It belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is native to South Africa.
The stems of Stapelia Hirsuta are fleshy, erect and branched at the base, and are dark green in color.
They have a quadrangular cross-section with serrated edges and small pointed tubercles arranged along the ribs, without true spines. The surface of the stems is pleasantly velvety.
It prefers areas of filtered light or partial shade.
Avoid waterlogging and allow to dry between waterings. Use a well-draining substrate.
The star-shaped flower is red and large, covered with a slight fuzz.
